Lismackin Celebrate Third Green Flag
A special ceremony to celebrate Lismackin National School receiving their third green flag was held on Tuesday, 27th. May 2008.

Ms Emma Boland co-ordinator of the Green Schools and her enthusiastic Green Schools committee explained to the gathering how the school had achieved their third green flag award. Representatives from classes- infants to sixth, elaborated on the various projects carried out to highlight awareness of our need to conserve water usage and quality. A cheque was presented to the school by representatives from the Parents Council who had raised €1500 through the production of a very popular school calendar earlier in the year. This will be put towards the installation of an IWB i Seomra Rang a haon agus a dó. The Chairperson acknowledged the support of the parents council
Parents, children and guests enjoyed refreshments afterwards, and then children took part in school sports activities and played on the bouncing castles provided for the day.

The County Semi-Final Match
Following up from the previous post we only drew our match against Rahealty-Kickham so we had to replay it . We won the replay by 2.5 to 8 points. we were now in the Tipp County semi-final against Portroe. Unfortunately we lost by a point even though we scored a goal in the last few minutes of the match. Well done to Portroe who went on to win the County Final.

Safety Online
It's Friday thank God!!No homework!!
Over the past two weeks we have been learning about keeping ourselves safe online. The first lesson we learned was not to give out personal information. We were givin a sheet and we had to fill out our information on it such as name, age, address etc...When we were finished our teacher took us outside and stuck it on the front gate of our school. She told us by giving out our information on the internet it is just like putting our information on a sheet and leaving it there for everbody to see.
Our second lesson was looking up things on the internet. When you type down something on google or any other search station you will get lots of links. We were told always read the information under each link to make sure it is suitable or it matches what we are looking for. Do u know on your search station you can click preferences and then chose strict access to make sure only apporiate things come up.
We watched a video of two characters called Fionn and Niamh explaining to us about usernames and chatting on line.It got really annoying as each thing took a long time to load. At the end of the lesson the girls and the boys made two groups and each group had five minutes to create a story line for the drama about chatting online. My group used a box and pretended it was a computer and there was a group at one side laughing and giggling and one girl at the other side believing that she had won a prize and was to meet a courier to collect her prize at the roundabout. We used a round table for the roundabout then we bundled her into our van (couch) and the teacher said it was very clever and we had great fun.
Will write more if I find the time and maybe post some some of our posters next weeek.Cya then.

The Snowdrop
This is a poem about snowdrops
"Where are the snowdrops?" said the sun
"Dead," said the frost,
"Buried and lost
Everyone."
"A foolish answer," said the sun
"They did not die,
Asleep they lie
Everyone
And I will awake them
I, the sun, into the light
All clad in white
Everyone."
I think this poem was written by Pádraic Pearse an Irish patriot who fought in the 1916 Rising.

Today is the 11th of Fedruary, another Monday morning. The weather is fine, the sun is still trying to find its way through the clouds. We have just come in from sos which was fun. We were playing soccer on the pitch. When we were coming in we were happy to see our first snowdrop had popped up. I have taken a picture for you to see.
